The Nigeria Labour Congress, or NLC, has called a statewide demonstration over the high cost of living in the nation on February 27 and 28, and it has started in Abuja.
NLC had issued a protest alert to its members in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) and the 36 states over the suffering of Nigerian civil servants.
Due to the Federal Government’s failure to carry out the agreements agreed on October 2 when the fuel subsidy was removed, the NLC and the Trade Union Congress sent a 14-day nationwide strike notice to the government on February 8.
To further stress its demands, the union chose to stage a two-day statewide protest while Nigerians continue to struggle with economic hardship.
The Department of State Services, or DSS, issued a security advisory, but the union ignited the demonstration in other locations around the nation.
Early on Tuesday, irate Nigerians and labourers were observed swarming the Labour House accompanied by security personnel.
